Inside your gut are more microbes than your own cells in your body! This amazing community of gut microbes is called the microbiome. The microbiome is very important to the health of any animal. The microbiome of an animal responds to things like stress, a change in diet and many other factors we are only just learning about. The Zoo of Poo project research microbiomes of zoo animals to increase our knowledge and help zookeepers to improve their care for animals into the future. 

Created by Quantal Science, the Zoo of Poo is an authentic science community of zoos and school citizen scientists, led by Quantal's real research scientists, co-delivering an awesome vision for animal welfare and science education and entrepreneurship, for now and the future.
